How We Helped Smart Managed Applications Scale Jitsi Infrastructure with Auto-Scaling and Enhanced Security

The Challenge

Smart Managed Applications needed to build a scalable, resilient Jitsi infrastructure capable of handling dynamic demand. Additionally, they required stringent security rules where only registered users could create meetings but attendees could join freely. Meeting links had to expire automatically after sessions, and persistent issues around screen sharing on Apple devices needed resolution. The client also sought to enable meeting recordings and support high-quality voice and video calls within Jitsi’s ecosystem.

Our Approach

1. Designed and deployed an automated, horizontally scalable Jitsi infrastructure using Terraform scripts to implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), enabling effortless scaling based on load.
2. Configured comprehensive server-side security rules ensuring that only registered users could initiate meetings, while attendees could join without authentication to maintain accessibility.
3. Implemented meeting link expiration mechanisms to enhance security by automatically invalidating links once a meeting concluded.
4. Diagnosed and resolved screen sharing issues on Apple devices directly within the Jitsi application to provide a stable cross-platform experience.
5. Integrated meeting recording functionality into the Jitsi platform, allowing users to capture and store session content reliably.
6. Set up seamless voice and video calling features within Jitsi, ensuring crystal-clear communications for all participants.
